Got a good start on my coop over the long weekend, can not do much except on weekends, but will post more pics in future.. Can't wait to get it done and get chickens moved in. Please share any and all thoughts on my set-up, if you see something that needs changing now is the time for me to change it.. I am a newbie when it comes to chickens, but have been reading all I can. We have decided to go with Pearl-White Leghorns, but I dont have a clue where to get them unless I get baby chicks?

Built frame next to garage then carried to its home.

Getting ready to put metal on it hopefully by this weekend.

So far out $0, I just had metal put on my house, and had the metal left over, but I have about used up all my scap stuff. Got a good friend where I work bringing me two windows for it!!

Roof angle is really high. Susceptible to strong wind if not anchored good. Maybe you're up north, but how will the hot air vent if the high spot faces the sun? Not a big issue, just thinking about the same things myself. If you walk into the coop will the 2x4 side braces support your weight? What about the center?

Not sure what u mean by this, but I plan on anchoring them good, and still have to lay my 2x2 across for metal to screw to . I have all my posts set in concrete.

I used 2x6's on floor except for two 2x4's going from side to middle.

Not sure about this question, but I plan on putting a 2 foot plexiglass window across front at the top that props open to allow air flow. I am also putting a window in each side. Another note the sun rises on the right side of coop and sets on left side

Thanks for all the questions though, you did get me thinking about how to anchor roof better and how to add more support on floor ..Keep them coming

Thanks it(window) was donated by a friend..

I need to find some place to get my chickens. If anyone has any ideas, I am in Ky and am looking for White Leghorn's

My Pet Chicken Will allow u to make small orders as few as 5 chickens. I ordered my leghorn from there and she is very docile, eats out of my hand, loves to be petted. Just remember they do like to fly. Mine can fly 6ft high and 10ft at a time. I let her spread her wings in the morning going to tractor and evening going to coop and that seems to be enough. BTW
