Newbie starting up

Hi all. I have been reading threads for months and decided I should join. Had chickens as kid and been wanting to get some for years but after reading here I just built a incubator to try and start the wheels rolling. I'm gonna try and hatch some of the fresh eggs I get from different friends. Great how everyone shares their experience!

Good luck incubating. I tried for the first time this year and out of 20 only 4 hatched! I must have messed up big time somewhere. I bope this goes really well for you

I'm going to try to make my own too. It all started because my husbands favorite hen went missing and we had a few of her eggs and no broody hen at the time. Well 5 turned into 20 just for fun and we did hatch one of her eggs but the chick did not make it. We were so sad. Keep us updated on how your homemade incubator works out. I've got big breeding plans for next year and I need a reliable incubator to help lol.

I hope to put mine to use in the next couple weeks if I'm lucky. The friends that give me eggs have a variety of chickens so there is no telling what kinds I will hopefully end up with I will let you know how it goes
