hi, i'm tilly and have found myself the new owner of three ducks. we rescued them last minute from an egg farm that had got into financial difficulty and was having to give away their ducks or kill them. i only went for two, but came away with three!
i think they are aylesbury ducks, from my research, are am told they are roughly 61 weeks old. they've only been here two days now, so i hope they will continue to explore and get used to our half acre garden, the children and nosy lab! we've already had two eggs! the children actually witnessed the laying! it was amazing and completely captured their enthusiasm for looking after our new girls. i've never seen it before either and it was just incredible for something we just take for granted when picking up eggs in the supermarket.
i am completely new to keeping ducks so i may be posting lots of questions over the next week or so as we try to get things just right for them.
looking forward to chatting with you all.
