Newbie to Backyard Chickens

Good morning from sunny CA, specifically Ventura. I just acquired, 3 weeks ago, my first 3 pullets. They are all hens and are Barred Rock. They are about 8-10 weeks old, hatched in May.

I can tell you this has been an adventure. This was not a spur of the moment Purchase. I have been wanting hens so I could source my own eggs. I read about this for about a year.

Finally, got the green light from hubby. My city only allows 4 hens, no roosters. I build a 10 feet x 7 feet enclosed sure with a coop inside. We have avredident hawk in the area & I have a doggy who just would love to chase the hens around. So, free range is not an option.

Anyways, I am glad to be a part of this group. I have read many great articles from this site when I had a question. I must say, chickens are way smarter than we give them credit.
Welcome here Sophia glad you joined . Folks on here are full of experience and wisdom when it comes to anything chicken related. I've learned lots here.
