Newbie to chicken keeping.

Welcome to BYC! I hope you keep her and mine see me and come running! Don't be timid or unnerved after all its just a chicken and she isn't in your weight class! She is a flock animal and sees you as part of her flock. I used to get embarrassed going out to check the mailbox as my little guys would follow me everywhere, now I just see it as a compliment that they like me. I must look silly mowing the lawn having a pack of chicken following me around.

I have a battery powered lawnmower that is pretty quiet, I'm sure a gas powered one would probably send them into hiding as they really aren't brave. I do recommend a friend or 2 for her and a coop when you find the time. I skipped page 2 so sorry for the responses from other posters if I am repeating your suggestions.

edit- If you do add more please consider offering oyster shell free choice to the flock, and an all flock feeder without excessive calcium until all are laying.

We ended up calling her TC (TopChick) We got her a friend yesterday - OMG she was not impressed!
