Hi there! I'm new to owning chickens. I just joined the sight because one of my chicks is pecking at another and made a bald bloody spot and a friend recommended that I join here. So, here goes! Thanks for having me and I am excited to learn more to help my girls.

Welcome!

I am not an expert when it comes to treating injuries and I recommend getting some advice from the folks on the ER Forum: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/10/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures

However, I do know that if the wound is bloody you will need to separate the little one from the others or they will continue to peck at it.

When you get a chance, the Learning Centre has lots of good tips: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
