how long do my 16 cornish cross chicks have to be on starter crumble for before i switch them. Then what should i switch them too.

Mine are on starter for the first 4 weeks. Then switched to broiler grower to finish. I also house mine inside and bring in clumps of sod for them to pick at.

I put mine on starter/grower (20% protein) for 4 weeks. Free range and "All-Flock" (18%) for 2 weeks. Then meat-bird (22%) for 2 weeks.

Average carcass was 4.5 lbs.

They would have been bigger if I had put them on meat-bird sooner. That said, two of them lasted from April 1 to Aug 1 without heat (hot summer in Ohio), cardiac or leg problems. When I harvested the last two last week, their carcasses weighed a combined 23 lbs!

I raised twelve cornish cross cockerels. I bought 100 lb of chick starter and when they ran out of that I put them on the broiler feed. They were butchered at 8 1/2 weeks and they all weighed 5lbs. Some of the were almost 6lbs and I just fed them once a day. They didn't have an unending supply of feed after being put on the broiler feed.
