I am new to ostriches and I am looking for some helpful advice. I have read a lot of forums and watched some videos about their care but the community here seems to be made up of people from all skill levels and I am hoping for some good sound advise. I am sure that everyone has some advise that they wish someone would have given them before they learned something the hard way. I have 10 acres 2 of which are grass pasture divided into 2 pastures and the main one has a big barn in it. I own a mini pony and an alpaca. I also have free roaming chickens, ducks, and geese. There is a standard livestock fencing and an electric fence that we never turn on. I think I read somewhere that it is helpful to seed your pasture with some different types of grass but I am not sure, maybe rye, or alfalfa? I would be raising the chicks inside for a while before putting them out into a covered chicken tractor. I have read that you need to spend time with them everyday to keep them tame and I can do that. Well that's some of what I know and I am sure that I am missing a lot. Thank you to this great community of people who are so freely helpful to others. Thank you in advance!
