Hello. I'm so glad to have found this forum!

I've had chickens for about 10 years - but really didn't pay much attention to them. I bought chicks and built them a nice tractor coop and feed and made sure the kids fed, watered and gathered eggs. Every so often some would die or we would be given others...and that was it. Last Spring I decided to freshen the flock and bought 10 chicks from the feed store. We continued as usual.

Through a turn of events I took over all of the small animal farm chores (we have pigs, chickens, cats, dogs, cows & horses). And now I realize how enjoyable raising chickens can be...and how much I didn't know! I'm hoping to hatch out some chicks next spring...and perhaps buy some more from a hatchery. I have a Barred Rock rooster and my hens are various breeds (Leghorns, Rhode Island Reds, Black Sex Links, Auracaunas, and an as-yet-unidentified black hen). One of the hens hatched this spring is not yet laying - I'm interested in why that could be if anyone has ideas...

I'm looking forward to learning from you all!
