(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I grew up with chickens. Every summer I would be sent to my grandparents and the chickens became my responsibility. They had a flock of about 50. Feeding, cleaning, collecting eggs, incubating eggs and tending to the summer crop of chicks. It wasnāt until I was much older did I realize that āweedingā the vegetable garden and tossing them all into the coop was not really a part of looking after the chickens! Clever Grandma!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We currently have six, and will be sticking close to that number.

1 Silver Laced Wyandotte Chickens
2 Golden Laced Wyandotte Chickens
1 Columbia Wyandotte

The novelty factor. Everyone has dogs and cats! Not many have chickens!!!

Knitting
Sewing

Reading
Cooking new things, but not too often because I hate doing dishes!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have four kids, three boys and one girl. One of our sons just got back from being in the Marines and our daughter has another 18 months until her contract with the Air Force is up. The other two boys are still at home.
We also have two Weimaranerās and a cat that firmly believes he is a dog. He will sit, lay down, high five, play dead, kiss and fetch.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I discovered your site because I want to build a new coop and this popped up in the search engine. I am a construction novice, but with extra down time on our hands I thought it might be nice to learn something new. I just found yāall yesterday.
