Newbie wanting advice from you experts

Hi! I will be getting 2 bantam hens soon. I grew up with chickens, but haven't had any in 13 years (since dh and I got married). I have FINALLY talked him into getting chickens! I loved having them as a child and would like for my kids to experience life with chickens.

The chicks belong to my 8 year olds best friend that lives behind us (they have 14 chickens total!). We are going to built a run and coop for them hopefully this weekend. I haven't even gone over to see them yet. I'm going to give her mom a call tomorrow.

Does anyone have any suggestions they would like to offer?

I've gotten some GREAT ideas for runs and coops on this forum. I already have one picked out that I plan to copy (although, the actual run will be larger).

Is there anything certain that we'll need to do until the chicks are a certain age? Certain foods?
