Hello all.
Well, during a recent trip to Pennsylvania my Father in law gave us some chicks.
My Wife picked out six and seemed to get five out of six females.
Yep, we definitely have a rooster in the bunch.......he's got a larger comb, and lots of attitude..LOL.
I was forced to build a coop as quickly as possible and finished up in two weeks.....luckily I have carpentry skills and it seems that I used just about every power tool in my arsenal to build this thing.
I did a bunch of browsing on the web to get ideas and I pretty much came up with this although certain things evolved during the build process.
Actually. I had so much fun building it that I have been taking orders from friends that want one too after seeing mine.
I went with the ponderosa pine green to blend in more with its surroundings to keep a low profile.
I would have went with a green roof panel but I already had some white panels left over from a dry deck job I did.
I was just recently given two adult hens from a friend who had a tragedy in the family and they were nice to the chicks the first day but on day two became very nasty to them, would not let them eat or drink and forced them to stay in the coop so I got the old coop from the guy that gave me the hens.......he was glad to get rid of it too but even though it was bought at a tractor supply store it is poorly constructed, the nesting boxes are too high and it needs a run built so I will be working on that as well.
Here is a video link of my tractor and please leave some feedback comments under the video link.....thanks.
