Hi, I'm Tina and I live in central Oklahoma. I purchased 6 week-old chicks and 7 week-old keets at the first of the month. I'm really enjoying learning about the birds and I am excited to be able to join this forum to get more information and learn about my new addiction.
I built a brooder box for my keets because they were getting too big for the plastic tub I had them in originally. The chicks are in a dog crate that I lined with chicken wire to keep the cats from reaching in and grabbing the chicks. I did put up plywood around the cage to keep the drafts down, but the weather has been so warm (until last night) that I haven't worried much about them getting too cold.
Next I need to build a fence for a chicken yard and get or build a chicken house. Fun, fun, fun!
I'm looking forward to meeting other members and sharing information.
Tina
Three of my chicks (4 weeks old)
And my keets 'afriad' in the corner. Notice the one white one that is all but hidden. All you can see is it's head.
