Hi there, new kid on the block without an egg to my name. I've caught the hatching bug though, and am attempting to make a styrofoam incubator. After looking at lots of incubator designs and kinds, I'm rather hoping to make a "false wall", as I hear that helps keep temperatures even. I really have no idea how to place the fan, lights, and humidity source (sponges in this case). I've doodled up some cut-aways (looking into the side of the incubator, not looking down into the incubator from the top), and would love opinions on them. Seems like this place is full of experts, and I'd love any input...even if it is "start over"! The styrofoam box itself come from a fish store and the inside dimensions are about 16 inches long by 13 inches wide, and 11 inches high. The walls are almost 2 inches thick. I plan on buying a second box from them, and cutting that one down to make the additional false wall compartment, leaving the listed measurements for eggs, thermometers, and so forth only. The bulb I'll be using is 25 watts, but I can increase wattage if need be. I do have a thermostat, which I plan on mounting near the bulb, but it is not pictured in the below plans, only the three components I'm worried about are.

A note on number 3: While it has a design aspect I really like (the fan is mounted next to a hole -the black dot- so it can draw fresh air in from outside the incubator), the air doesn't make a nice loop inside, and I don't think it'd have a good result.

Thanks so much!

Number one would work best but you really don't need a false wall setup on something that short. A simple centers hanging fan would be fine. Multi level tall incubators are the only ones where a false wall really helps.

Just dont put the bulb to close to the eggs.

Hey Rebel, thanks for the input! I may be adding another cooler attached to my main one if this set up seems to work, and I'd really like to keep the space in my current cooler for just eggs (rather than bulky fans and bulbs) since it is so short, so that is also why I am considering a false wall.
