I have my first broody hen, she is a Bantam. I think her eggs are at 21 days today . I could have sworn I heard slight noises from the nest yesterday, however I haven't heard any today. She is very protective of them and I didn't know about trying to candle them sooner to see how they were developing. Is there anything I can do or do I just have to be patient?

Be patient. Mother hens have been hatching chicks since the first egg. Bantams especially tend to know what to do. Since you are not positive as to how long she has been setting, just give then/her time. Good luck for a successful hatch.

Ok I'm new to this group but I have been hatching eggs for a year now. I have recently been forced to buy a new incubator since my ancient one finally bit the dust. My husband bought one of those 96 egg incubators for me the cheap Chinese ones that are plastic and basic name "egg incubator" on it. I thought oh great temp control turning the whole nine yards! Well I am getting a EE displayed on my humidity part and I can't find a EE anywhere in the book. Has anyone had this happen?

Okay, new question... I hear a little chirping so I am guessing that something has come out. However, since they are under momma I have no idea. There is 7 eggs under her and I am pretty sure that 2 didn't develop. My question is... do I just wait till she moves off the nest or can I move her off briefly to see what is going on and clean up any shell pieces? Thanks in advance.
