We started this spring with chickens and have 5. We have 3 barred(2 hens and 1 rooster) and 2 jersery gaints(appears to be 1hen and 1 rooster). I think they are all going crazy. The jersery gaints are the boss and rule the lot. The barred get attacked for leaving the coop. Is this normal? Also my hen jersery crows with the rooster. And not a really deep loud crow but a soft mocking crow. My husband says I have 2 jersery roosters but you can tell by looking at them they are different. His comb on top is bigger bright and the other is small not as bright red. But why would a hen crow with a rooster? I really think I have a crazy bunch of birds. LOL

Well Howdy! sounds like you have a crazy bunch for sure! One of my pullets was very talkative, bossy and matured faster. I thought sure she was a roo! You didn't mention ages? If you post pics in https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/15/what-breed-or-gender-is-this folks will help solve the mystery. I can say that with 2 roos and only 3 hens, you may have your work cut out for you keeping the peace and protecting the girls once they mature if they haven't.

Thank you I will try that. They are about 5 months old. I did not really want roosters but I thought it might be a good way to add to our flock.
