Hi everyone,
I am getting excited about starting a small chicken flock. I have recently retired and my hubby and I are in the process of building a new home on an acreage, we (well, I) want to raise some chickens for fun. I am now looking up and saving/printing out any info I can find. It all sounds very helpful and not that tough to do. Hubby is going to build me a coop and anything else I need.
Can't wait to get started.....

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

The Learning Centre is a great resource. Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock when they arrive or the coop build, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Good luck with your journey into becoming a chicken parent.

Hi and welcome to BYC. Talking to peeps on your state thread about coop builds is also a good idea. They will be familiar with your local critters and weather conditions.

Including your general location, under your avatar will help other members to give the best advice possible.
