hi guys

We are relatively new to our lifestyle block (5 acres) in Taranaki we have been here for 1 1/2 years getting our first 4 chickens and a rooster a few months after moving in. Since then we have added to the flock and have 10 hens 5 of which we saved from a battery farm they were not in good shape when we got them but are awesome girls now) our rooster and a baby chick (we have hatch 3 others which were roosters so these were given away)
We have 2 bantams and the other girls are red shavers I think

I found out about BYC when I was googling chicken Info and look forward to joining some of the forums and getting heaps of help from the discussions.

I/We also have a couple of dogs, 4 Beefies, 2 goats, a kitten oh and the two boys and hubby

:welcome:celebrate

Glad you're here Ange!

If you haven't yet, please make your chickens a FIRST AID KIT for any issues that would arise.
It's definitely better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it.

Also, make sure your coop(s) have a proper amount of VENTILATION. Your chickens will absolutely thank you for it! :D

G’Day from down under Ange :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Best wishes for a bright and cheerful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
