(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
My first flock was almost 20 years ago and was a science project for school. I was supposed to see what affected eggs from developing by changing the lighting and heat conditions, buuuut I didn't have the heart and just hatched all of our eggs. My mom let me take 4 birds home, My rooster Babe a beautiful Brown Leghorn, a white leghorn hen, a speckled sussex hen and then a heavier set rooster I can't remember the breed.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
My husband and I just bought a house with 30 acres of land and the first thing we did this spring was bring home 6 chicks and 2 ducks.

(3) What breeds do you have?
I am not 100% sure and will post a separate thread to see if I can get help, but from what I can gather I think we may have two black copper marans, maybe a blue copper maran or a cochin, a beautiful red bird, a black and white speckled one, and what may be a pair of khaki campbell ducks.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Before we got our birds I was researching to see if we could keep chicks and ducks together.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking, and gardening.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am married to my wonderful husband of 14 years, we have 4 dogs (2 dachshunds, a red heeler and a min pin) two cats, and a baby on the way. And I work as an administrative assistant a our local Community College.

Golly, I am excited for you. So glad you joined the flock. I like your ratio of 4 dogs to 2 cats. Almost as good as 4 dogs and No cats. That's okay, it's your choice.:welcome

Hehehehe definitely a dog lover myself, but my cats are more dog than feline. Thankfully she has no intrest in the chickens, today one almost walked right up to her and she just laid there!
