Hi! My name is Ellie Jo, I'm new to BYC.

My family and I aren't quite new to chickens, we've had them for a few years now. I'd say since 2013 it was. We used to have around 30, right now we're sitting at around half of that. We have Ameraucanas, Rhode Island Reds, some kind of black chicken that is my favorite but I don't know the breed, and Barred Rock (my other fav). We also have two Pekin ducks. I had two others who's breed was unknown, but one was killed the other night and his buddy took off.

I just love having animals in the back yard. I love fresh eggs and I love hearing the chickens and ducks! We don't have a rooster anymore but I used to love listening to him!

Other hobbies I have include beef farming, dairy farming, horses and lifting/CrossFit!

I've known about BYC for quite some time because every time I googled a chicken or duck question, a thread from this page usually popped up. I never knew how to join but this morning while eating my oatmeal I just happened to find the subscribe button. So I finally did it! (I don't know how I didn't see that before )

Thanks for having me! Here's a pic of me with three of my previous ducks. (100% a duck girl haha)
Next I want to get some Ancona Ducks!
