Hi i am new to here and i have no idea how i found you all but i did so it must be meant to be.My family and i live in Canada in the city my whole life but we are hardcore campers. We will be moving to one acre in the summer and i hope to have chickens a couple goats and a couple pigs. First chickens tho, as i read everywhere to take baby steps. I have three dogs[two small,one a German Shepard old] and a cat. I have read a ton about chickens and coops this last year and cant wait to learn more..since i have a bad memory and it always seems like new info . We will be dealing with winters and rain and a very empty bank account,but were great builders and very creative hard working people.Be gentle, be kind, and know im a funny gal [its not sarcasm].

Welcome to BYC! Glad to see that you are getting all kinds of farm animals. Even I used to live in a city, with no experience at all. But then we moved to a more country area, with an acre of land (a lot to me). BYC is a wonderful treasure trove of information. It really helped me learn everything about chickens. Hi! Welcome to BYC! You've come to the right place for information and chicken chat. There are lots of ways to build a coop inexpensively. Some people convert sheds that are already on the property and others actually build them out of pallets, which if you look around can be free. We have a store that gives them away regularly.
