Hi and welcome! A few pointers: always make your coop and run bigger than you think you need the more space the better. And if you don't have a cement floor you should raise your coop about a foot off the ground so rats don't tunnel under and make it their home. Had this problem when I was a child with my duck coop that had a wood floor. I have a cement floor for my chicken coop now. I also have 2 chicken doors both can be used to get access to the run however I do have another smaller run inside my big run I can close off if I want to separate chickens, same thing inside my coop, I have an enclosure By my second door so that I can separate chickens if need be, or I can leave it open for full access. Comes in handy, especially if one door gets frozen shut in the winter. For my nest boxes my husband and I built a long table about 3 feet off the ground with dividers and a roof, I use cat litter pans in between the dividers. They are easy to clean and you can remove them if you need to wash them. The table is wide enough they can walk on it to get to the nest boxes I also built a ladder so they can climb up to the platform. I also put a roost above it because they liked to roost on the roof of the nest boxes and I didn't want them to sleep in their poo. I use a large paint scrapper to clean the droppings off. I have 7 nest boxes for 29 hens I figure I should have about 3 more. Also, make sure you have good cross ventilation either by adding windows on every wall or adding vents on every wall. If you add windows make sure you cover with hardwire cloth so animals can't tear their way in. I also recommend not having it too far away from your house. Hauling food, water and supplies from long distances would not be fun. I live in Minnesota so I have to haul water in the winter. I am so glad my coop is only about 30 feet from my house. And if you build roosts out of 2x4 lumber have the widest part up especially in cold climates, they can cover their feet better with their feathers and it's better support for larger breeds.

:frow hi and welcome. Make it twice as big as you think you need. Chickens are as addictive as potato chips. You need a black one, and a red one, and a white one, and a silver speckled one, and a gold speckled one, and a yellow one, and one or two that lay green eggs, and maybe one with a silly topknot, and, and, and! Lol, ask me how I know. And then you decide to hatch a few .... We call it chicken math. Have fun! 😆
