Hi! I am brand new to this group. I live in the NE and have Silkies. We hatched them last spring… one is a rooster. Love my flock and learning as I go. I’ll start with a question… how do I keep the waterer from filling up with dirt? Any tips?

Hello, and welcome! Good luck with your flock! Could you maybe sit your waterer up on a piece of wood or something to raise it up off the ground but still have it where they can drink out of it?

Welcome to Backyard Chickens .. I use nipples on my water buckets no mess in the water ....
Birds have to be shown how to do that. Also old enough to activate the nipples

My water is hanging by a rope where everyone can reach but the dirt can't be slung into it.
