Hi, NanNan, You might like to read an article on improving predator protection for new and existing coops, in case your dog falls asleep on the job (or worse, joins the other side!). The key is using half inch hardware cloth instead of chicken wire, which raccoons, possums, foxes can work through pretty easily. Then, that wire you have buried, along with a line of large stones or concrete blocks along the edge of the pen (inside will keep the hens from digging - which I never thought of), will complete the job.
