Hello. Although we've had chickens for years they weren't my duty to care for since I've always worked many hours outside of the home. Now that I'm not working I am caring for our 10 hens and am enjoying every minute. I've gotten so much information from you all about healthy natural dirt floors. Looking into one of my girls sounding congested. I thought I noticed that when we rescued them a few weeks ago and yes I did. Looking for information on that. Thank you all!

Hmm. Not sure which breed the girls are. Brown eggs and they're color is orange/white. A couple of times I've noticed bumpy eggs. Also the gal with the respiratory issue seems to be sleeping on the purch outside of the coop.

Did you get all 10 from the same place at the same time?

Do you know how old they are?

If you want to post a picture or two someone here can tell you what breed they are.
Sometimes it's helps to know the breed...some breeds are more prone to certain illnesses.

I was told they're 1 to 2 years old. They came from a breeder. I didn't go into the area they were housed but I was told there were an enormous amount of girls being housed there. I asked whether they were vaccinated and he said no need. Will post pix. Thanks
 
Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

All birds should be locked in the coop at night for their safety. It sounds like maybe your bird and flock may have MG, a respiratory ailment common in chicken flocks. An antibiotic may he necessary to clear this up. You might want to post in our Emergency forum for more help....
