Hello all, I just found this forum while cruising around the web, My wife and I live in Saint Augustine, Florida, just south of Jacksonville and on the east coast...
We've had flocks for the last six or seven years, and just started a new one.
Our coop is small so we keep the flocks between ten and twenty, right now we have 18, 9 Golden Orbs and 9 White Barred Rocks, both brown egg layers.
We've just seen our first eggs this week with one a day appearing just about every day....we've switched from grower krumbles to layer krumbles just this week, mixing about half and half with the grower till it runs out.
I'm glad to find the forum and look forward to being in the community flock....
In the past we've had Barred Rocks, Black Sex-link, Buff Orpingtons, Americaunas, Rhode Island Reds and some Americauna/Black Sex-link crosses.
No roosters any more, we tried that one year and got tired of the noise of crowing at all hours of the day and night. Now we just have a flock of happy little hens who forage our one acre place during the day and coop up at night...
