I am new on BYC and would love to make some friends!Please post some tips below!We are going to recieve our chicks in march!So still quite a while till we get our chicks~My dad is working on a chicken coop for when they come 8 x 6.5 feet we are expecting 10 chicks is three nest boxes enough?There outside run is 9 x 12 .How many square feet per chicken?

You say you want tips on making friends here? The best thing to do is help others (once you're chicken-wise), join in lots of conversations and be friendly!

Your coop sounds like a good size. Four or five nesting boxes would be better than three.

The general rule is: 4 sq ft per bird inside the coop and 10 sq ft/bird in the outside run. 3 nest boxes is plenty for 10 hens. A lot of times, they pick a favorite nest and everyone lays in it.
