I am a newbie at chickens, am lucky to have friends who can help me out. I got a coop for my birthday and wanted silkie chickens. The problem is I can't find any. Is this unusual? I found on guy in Gslveston, but he will only sell with a rooster. My husband said no roosters. I live in Santa Fe Texas.

I bought some chickens, turkeys and guineas from a place called "cackle hatchery" the link is http://www.cacklehatchery.com/default.html there is a min # you have to buy but they do send extras to compensate for fatality rate. i lost a few but i still have more than i ordered. they are healthy, happy and growing like weeds. they seem to have a long waiting list ( mine took the longest 6 weeks of my life ) but they showed up when they said they would and i would give them a 5 star rating and i would order from again.
