Hello everyone. I'm a new beginner in the chicken business. I plan to go to a chicken swap next weekend to get three almost grown hens. I'm not comfortable in raising them from chicks just yet. Maybe next year..... Any advice??

Also, I forgot to say that I'm a backyard chicken keeper guy. I live in city and am building my coop to put in the backyard...

start at a level you are comfortable with. Once you get some confidence you may want to branch out to other areas. No rush, no rules. Some people like to hatch their own, others never want to. Some want to start an egg business, or try showing them. Others just like various breeds as lawn decorations.
