I'm wondering if you mean actual toenail or the spur they have at the back of their leg. I'm thinking the later as the outer part can be taken off (to de-spur) and it leaves what I guess could be referred to as a shard. When you bathe it, it probably reopens the wound and it can't form a clot. If you have any antibiotic cream like neosporin(No caine product) or polysporin or if nothing else even just Vaseline apply to the wound. . Some people stop the bleeding with cooking flour but that is usually just for a small nail blinding.

Keep him caged if possible so he doesn't run around and start the bleeding again.

first off, thank you for replying and it was an actual layer of the nail so i can hold what used to be his nail in my palm. for his spurs he's only had one ever since i got him. and about the bathing i learned that the hard way. His wound opened up and i had to bring him in the house getting him to sleep while i "repaired" his wound with the supplies that had just come in with my mother so i was able to patch him up and to keep him in the house for two days with his wound in a much better shape so i guess all their is left to do is wait.

Thank you redsoxs i appreciate it it.
