if you love chickens this is the very best place to be
 
I have some four month old chickens I know they should be starting to lay pretty soon will that not happen because it's coming up on winner or should I still get some eggs from them

Your chickens might or might not start laying before winter sets in. It partly depends on your weather, and partly on the breed. Some of the hardier breeds will lay through the winter, so they may start now. Barred Rocks have been very reliable layers for me.

Sexing is kind of breed-dependent, too. There are some breeds or crosses that can be sexed at hatching, because the feathering is noticeably different. In most breeds, the cockerel's comb and wattles will be more developed and show more color at a very early age, maybe just a few weeks. On the other hand, I've had a few Bantam Cochins and Silkies that I really wasn't sure about until they started laying or crowing!
 
The breed I have our Wyandotte silver laced and Delaware do you think they will be hardy enough to lay through the winter and thank you for the information I really appreciate it
