I guess I should have already have eggs hatching, chicks purchased? We just bought a house near Chicago where we can have chickens and I'm ready to go! Glad I found you. For now, I'm just looking for information to get set up. I'm looking for gluten free, oat free, high omega 3 feed ideas, and success and otherwise stories. I hope to learn lots.

With the horrible weather the Chicago suburbs have been having - you still have plenty of time to set things in motion. Head for the Learning center, and you can branch out from there to raising backyard chicks, incubation, hatching - anything else you need to know - in the various forums.

City and suburbs are experiencing a lot of coyotes who are not afraid of people - be ware once they taste chicken, they'll keep coming back.

Definitely head over to our learning center here on BYC. Lots of good reads on all the aspects of poultry keeping from building the coop, picking breeds, raising your new babies and keeping your adult flock healthy...

Aww, we saw you tiptoe past the door, peek in, and then kinda back up a little bit. It's a skill you'll develop very quickly! Welcome! I'm new myself but I already feel like I belong here. Heck, I'm on here more than I am on Facebook anymore, and that's saying something!
