Hi, new to the site and forum. Recently got our backyard chickens after building our coop, or tractor. We have four production reds. Bought them as pullets but one turned out to be a rooster...not happy bout that ! Looking forward to learning and eating some fresh eggs...and maybe that rooster !

Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Good luck with your flock of hens and a rooster! If you can, I actually recommend keeping the rooster and not eating him. Roosters are very helpful!! They protect the flock with their lives, they feed and care for their "ladies" and are excellent alarm clocks! (A good and bad thing I guess!

Be sure to also check out these two links attached.

Again, welcome!

Yes, nothing better than farm fresh eggs right out from under the hen....and an occasional rooster!
