Hello! I am Jessica from Alabama. I am new and just trying to find any and all information on raising our backyard chickens. We got 6 chicks from Tractor Supply about 2 months ago. I'm pretty sure they are black sex links. Any info you have is welcome!!

And now for suggestions;; Well, go to top of page and read up in the link "" LEARNING CENTER "" Then read as many threads as you desire and your knowledge will increase fantastically. Then, when you have a question that you just cant find an answer. Post a thread.. PEEPS here on BYC are more than happy to help with suggestions, answers, and opinions. Your chickens are sexlinks. which makes determining the sex of chick 99%+ accurate as the pullets and cockerels are of different color.

Welcome to BYC, Jessica. Glad you decided join our flock. My daughter's name is Jessica. The chicks in your avatar look like Black Sex Link pullets. Black Sex Links are my favorites as they are friendly and hardy, egg laying machines. I raised them for years (along with dozens of other breeds and hybrids), and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per hen per year. You should get loads of large, brown eggs from those girls. :o) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your BSLs.
