Howdy y'all! New to BYC and loving it! Lookin forward to learn more about chickens and how to take care of them when they're hurt. I own six spoiled egg laying chickens that I love, and six meat birds that will soon be eaten. Nice to meet y'all. Bye for now!

Hello everyone! I'm fairly new to being a chicken mom. We purchased a new home and the flock were included! So now I have two hens on a nest of eggs. Rooster takes turns too...do I just leave them be?

Also I have a rooster who has been on top of the nest boxes for about two weeks. He rarely will come down and we literally had to build him a shelf and give him his own food and water. The previous owner says he's done this before, but he's my favorite n I'm worried!

Ok. Are the fertile? It takes 21 days for a chick to start forming, so if they are fertile and you don't want chicks, take them away.
