Newbies 1st Hatch ! ! *Contest Listing updated*

Need to update my percentage.

Stumpy didn't make it.

Also, upon opening the rest of the eggs, two were not fertile. I must have made rookie candling error guesses. So, 2 out of 13.

Most of the eggs had nearly fully formed chicks that never pipped.

Update:
Started with 20, and ended up with 12 eggs going in hatcher; two have hatched since 5pm yesterday, and one more has pipped!

The 2nd one didn't hatch until 3:30am, so the 5pm hatchling was lonely and cheeping loudly until I put a small string of red LED Christmas lights on top of the 'bator (they stay cool to the touch).

Instant silence! Wow, he calmed right down and didn't emit any more distress (LOUD) cheeps; he justed started talking to the eggs.

I have to go out of town overnight because my mom is having surgery, so DH is going to hold down the fort. I told him technically, the first hatchling can stay in the hatcher until 5pm Sat., but I'll call him from the hospital tonight to see how things are going. The brooder is all set for the chicks.

i have 2 out of 5 hatch so far and the the other 3 have pipped

ok all done hatching now i set 7 and had 2 infertiles an the other 5 hatched and are in the brooder but i think one of the infertiles was acctualy a blood ring im not sure

Can I ask... what temp & humidity did you aim for? How low did you let humidity get prior to adding more water to tray? I'm trying again now, and hope to have some chicks on May day.

umm i think my temp was between 36.5C and 37.7 and humidity was 48% days 1-18 and between i think 55-62% and the humidity stayed stable realy i just checked the water level and added more if it was almost gone and during hatching i added a sponge i added water to when it looked dry mind u this was in a homemade bator thats a still air
