Newbies for raising chicks

Loving our chickie-poos! No health issues and limited treats(veggies and egg shells) to twice a week. Plus the store bought freed for laying chicks. What is the best handmade chick foods for 6 week old chicks.

Young chicks do not need egg shell or crushed oyster shell. That is something for laying hens. Chicks(and roosters) have no need for additional calcium it can cause kidney damage .
Chicks should be on chick starter. Only laying hens should be on layer food for that reason. They need calcium to build strong shells. Little chicks do not.

What are the best herbs to help keep the coop smelling better and that does not hurt the chickens. They are 12 weeks now.

Maybe try searching "deep litter method" for your coop and see if you may wish to try that - almost odour free.

Thanks bunches. We only have 6 girls...but anything will help. What kind of herbs can I use to help it smell better too and the chickens can eat the herbs too.

Heres a list of what is NOT good for chickens, so try anything other than theses that takes your fancy. Herbs such as mint are fast growing, so they may do well.
