Newbies in SouthSide Virginia!

Hey our names are David and Beth. We have leads wanted a chicken coop and finally got it Saturday. We have a very old but in in sound shape salt house that we have turned into our coop. We are true believers in repurposing things. All the wood used to build the nest is salvaged and the roost are trees cut down from the property. We just have the basics right now. Our coop will grow in the spring, but for now we have nine hens that are laying about eight eggs a day so far. We have only had the 36 hours approx. Anyone have any tips on anything? I am needing all the info I can get. Being we are new to this , chickens and being on the website.
