My dad and I are looking to raise genetic hackle. He is a fly fisherman, and has built rods, reels and has tied flyers for many years. I have raised a number of market animals and we would like to team up and raise genetic hackle to use for quality dry and wet flies. Any information you have to help us get started would be very helpful. We would like to know where to get these birds/eggs, how to raise and care for them, harvesting feathers, and anything else you have to say. Hope to hear from you.

Best regards,
Karl and Peyton.

Very nice to meet you Karl & Peyton, welcome to Backyard chickens. I'm glad you explained "genetic hackle," I was afraid it's a new poultry disease.

I think if you put "genetic hackle," in the searchbox - info. will pop up. I recall other folks, mentioning it, who are ardent fishermen.
