Me again.
For fermenting, I don't do the feed because it becomes mush, but chickens love mush so you do as you wish, but I just ferment 50% Kalmbach's Henhouse Reserve (3 gallons), 25% whole oats, 25% whole wheat, a cup of flax and 1/2 cup of chia. This all goes in a bin dry and stirred up.

Use whatever you want, then fill a quart jar half full of it. Fill the rest of the way with non-chlorinated water and cover loosely. Each day stir it and top with water. Three days later it's ready to serve.

This feeds 14 adults and 10 three-month-olds, all silkies.

If you want it for every day, you'll need 3 jars.
Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4 Serve Day 1, make a new batch.
Great recipe @Debbie292d. I will have to try it.

This is pretty close to how I do it and a good visual. I forgot to add that I do drain mine too.

Two tips though...noting that she's using feed that's seeds, so maybe something like Kalmbach's, etc., as that expands without getting mushy, but either way works. Second, if you have bugs, like fruit flies, you will want to cover it with cheesecloth. I did that for a while, then bought these lids.
