Sorry long post.
I have a broody hen. She sat eggs and all died but one. I took the viable egg and incubated. It hatched last night. She is still broody, so I’m wondering if I go ahead and put the new chick under her or do I get more day old chicks and just raise them together or let her? The chick is healthy and strong. But I’m afraid she might hurt it being the only one. Help!

Wait until it’s dark and place the chick under her. I would stay there and watch for a few minutes. You should know fairly quickly if she is going to accept it. If she starts to push it out of her nest or pecks at it put the chick in a brooder and gets some more chicks so it’s not lonely.
