This baby is shivering, she was born into a muddy yard. I have dried her and have her inside. What else can I do? Should she be okay? Mom was grazing and just dropped her...and we found her a bit later. We hadn't been letting mom out...go figure...

1st pics of baby and mom!!! The little doeling is covered with dirt. I didn't wash her since time was short for her to get colostrum. She is dry at least

We were hoping for twins, but a healthy little girl is AWESOME too!

Can you wrap her in warm (from the dryer) towels?? Heating pad...body warmth...anything to get her warm...

I hve her wrapped up like a little burrito in a dry towel and she seems to be getting warmer. Poor thing...anyone know how soon she HAS to get back to mom? I want her to get warm first..kinda cold out today. Their dry stall is ready and mom is in it.

Hair dryers work well. Heating pads can become too warm if they are laying in one spot for a long period of time. Heat lamps work well too. Just keep them away from hay or straw if the baby is in the barn. They can also jump up while playing and knock into them. It is exactly what happened to my brothers goats. It burned down a shed and they lost several and had a couple that were burned that lived and had to be rehabed over a long period of time. It almost cost them their house as well.

Almost forgot...Has the baby eaten yet? It is important to make sure the baby has had colosterum (first milk) from it's mom. If she isn't going to "claim" it milk the mom into a container and save it for the baby. Give it too her via a bottle.

Holding good thoughts.

Guess we missed church tonight..lol. Good News is baby is safe and WARM now that she has had a good blow dry and a dose of colostrum from mom. They are in a stall(heat lamp WELL secured) with hay and water for mom. They are doing good. I think she has another on the way, she looks like she is still contracting....we'll see soon. My niece called..perfect timing..she's 5 and HAD to name the baby girl
