Hi- had a chick which failed to zip and after 5 hrs (my fault as humidity was low) I intervened and broke the rest of the shell. Baby chick was stuck to the inside of the egg- so glad I did help them out - but now it still looks wet even though many hours have passed. Do I give this chick a little bathe with water and cotton wool to help get some of the gunk off it and keep it in the incubator for longer?? Also it has a turned middle toe?? What do I do with that??
Many thanks.

That's good to hear. there is a lot of casualties for chicks that can't get out of their shells properly.

It could be still sticky from being in the egg. If it were mine I would get a warm damp washcloth and rub it really good, get the chick fairly damp. Then get a clean toothbrush and rub the chick with it to fluff him up. Good luck!

Thank you will try that tonight so it can dry off and fluff up while still in the incubator. X
