newby chick hatcher

I am new to trying to hatch my own chicks but am going to give it a shot. We have had chickens for a few years now but need new stock. None of my hens are the mothering type. lol So I borrowed an older incubator from a friend but I do not know how to make it go. it is a Turn-X TX4 incubator with this double plow blade looking thing in the middle where some have the thermometor. I have no idea how to make this thing work.
