Every time I fire up the BBQ all the chickens come stand by waiting for a morsel of chicken or ribs to "fall accidentally" so they can gobble it up. Yum Yum!.

Scratch will put fat on the chickens organs so use sparingly. I give my hens about a handful of scratch per bird per day and that is more than enough. So quite often I won't give them scratch for a day or two each week.

Before processing my meaties I will give them a ton of scratch the week before to help give them even more fat. YUM YUM!

The best way to give your bird a sores of animal protein is to offer them a feed that contains animal protein in the form of fish, ruminants and/or swine.
Most feeds that use a sores of animal protein will obtain the protein from either meat (no bone) or meat and bone meal (from ruminants and/or swine); blood meal; poultry by-product meal; feather meal; and fish meal. Animal protein meals provide a good source of essential amino acids (e.g. lysine and methionine), but they are also good sources of energy and minerals (particularly calcium and available phosphorus).

If you check around you should be able to find poultry feeds (chick starter/grower, layer and game bird feed) that contain animal protein the two feeds that I use that contain Animal Protein are,
Buckeye Nutrition
Kent Feed

I had read some where ( I forget where now) that it is not good to get feed with animal protien
in it because it can cause some health issues.

I am new at this so I could be wrong. What are the opinions of those more experienced?

Thanks
