I've been pointed in the direction of this forum from a fellow chicken lover
We have had chickens for around 6mnths now- but it seems so much longer than that!!! We have two orphington crosses, two silverlaced wyandottes, silkies, and now have some baby chicks! The older ones are a couple of mottle pekins, then we have a silver pencil and cuckoo pekin and a seabright still hanging out with adoptive mummy hen. Plus I just put some day olds under another of my broody hens last night (she's a second time mummy and a natural!) They are buff, splash/white, a surprise pekin and one rhode island red..Plus I'm getting a wee spangle girl this weekend to keep one of my other company as her friend ended up a roo!
I am seriously addicted to my girls! Love hanging out with them!
It's nice to have some girls around as I have 3 little boys so have been out numbered!!
My hubby secretly loves them too..but won't admit to it of course
He made them their converted playhouse coop and has fenced off a large run area for them for most of the time..they need to be supervised while freeranging in the whole garden as they love my vege garden!! Rascals!
