Just wanted to say I love this site, the q&a's and all the helpful info. Got our first RI reds and New Hampshire hens in June 2019 and we just incubated out our first 14 babies with our Maran Rooster! Several duds that had veins but did not do anything more past about 10 days and two late pippers did not make it once they hatched. 1 yellow, 2 yellow with black saddles and the rest are all mostly black, a few with a little white on chest and a few all black with a cute brown cap. Crazy thing happened...one hatched on day 18 late at nite!! Before we went to bed, we were checking temp and humidity for lockdown and poof there he was just popped open. We waited until he was dried pretty well and transferred him to our makeshift brooder box and then l
ocked down for the final count down. It was so heartbreaking to have the two die, but then I look at these in the box jumping around and remember their "parents" at that age when we got them!! So excited for the adventure of fun and learning!
