Hello I'm new both here and to raising lil chicks! Oak Abode sent me here...thankfully. I'm on week 3 with four chicks unknown sex.
1 Polish and 3 Silkies
I just got my lil coop up over the weekend and they are beginning to spend the day in there.
We had our first "problem" this morning within and hour of me checking on them...they picked on Vanilli (the vanilla headed silkie in back) to the point she could barely walk. I separated them...but in researching I found reintroducing her back in from complete separation could be worse on her. So I attached some wire within the inside portion underneath the coop to give a division. While I was doing that in 90°...they decided they all would get along again.
Herbs and Hens on Instagram told me it could be cause they are in smaller storage container when inside the house.
They don't have all their feathers...I don't think so I've just brought them back in for the night. I'm concerned they might go back to picking on her again.
Oh I really didn't think this through...they look so adorable everywhere...til they are yours and causing problems. Lol

Hello laneaj, and welcome to BYC!

Integrate at night, not during the day. It's been my experience that chickens wake up and see the new/old bird and they're like "huh?" and that's about it😂

If you notice feather picking, then an old timers method of getting them to stop would be to rub pine tar on the affected area, as you can imagine the stuff tastes disgusting and they won't be biting her again any time soon.
Hope this helps 😁
