1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.) - Buckeye, arrived 24 hours ago, not sure on the weight, but smaller than the others (5 altogether)

2) What is the behavior, exactly. She seems really tired and weak, got her to eat some water w/honey+bit of garlic salt + egg yolk, will take a few drops but then falls asleep. Her head drops slowly and bobs up chirping and alert for afew seconds then doses off again. won’t eat solid food doesn’t show any interest in it.

3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? Since she arrived

4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? No, they got water and ate within half an hour and off to the races.

5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.

No and her but is clean.

6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. Nothing that I know of

7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. 8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. water w/honey+bit of garlic salt + egg yolk, will take a few drops but then falls asleep. Her head drops slowly and bobs up chirping and alert for afew seconds then doses off again. won’t eat solid food doesn’t show any interest in it.
Pooped once last night white thin paste.

9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? See above.

10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? Treat her ourselves.

11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.

12) Describe the housing/bedding in use pine shavings.

These are chicks that came in the mail? Where from?
Poop photo?

Do you have any Poultry Nutri-Drench or poultry vitamins/electrolytes?
If not, I would give her sugar water to see if that helps.

Once she's hydrated, then see if she will eat some wet soupy chick starter.

Is she staying warm?

This might help

shipped from iowa to near minneapolis

trying to give her electrolytes but isnt interested

Is she staying warm?

she is my hand or around my neck

Update on the little buckeye, she pooped again and drinks except I have to put her beak in it and has had some electrolyte, sugar water....but no food heading into her second night hope she pulls through.

She does "peep'" back at me when I talk to her.

Are you providing her heat?
What's her legs like, can she walk?
She has been around our necks in a bandanna sling almost all day.

As for walking, she can stand, wobbles and walks a couple steps

Can you get some poultry vitamins that contain B2?
You can also use human B-Complex.

I would see is she will eat a bit of wet soupy chick starter too. She's tiny.
Some chicks suffer from shipping stress and need extra heat and a vitamin boost.
Sometimes sadly they fail to thrive.

Thanks for the info, we've had chickens for 10 years but this is the first young-in with which we've had a problem. if she makes it through the night ill try the vits in the morning.

i think shes a fighter, hopefully she'll hang in there.

Thanks for your help, She passed about 5:00 this morning, surprising how such a small thing can have such a big effect.
