Hello there,
I’m Elisabeth, to my ultimate surprise my husband brought home 6 bantam chicks on my 31st birthday back in April. I was anxious and excited! We have 3 lovely kiddos 10,6, and 3, but no pets before now! We are vegetarian so we instantly loved our chickens and do keep them as pets with a hope of those egg breakfast bonuses. I am still learning so much and neither my husband or myself grew up on a farm or have any experience with chickens apart from the past two months. To our knowledge, (which I may find out we aren’t correct) we have 3 buff Brahma, 2 Black sex link, and one barred rock. We have kept them in the garage since they were chicks but once they feather out enough and the weather warmed up we built an outdoor pen for daytime play. We have a coop coming in the next week which I’m very happy for! Can’t wait to learn from you all!
While I’m here, I have a growing concern that our barred rock, Penelope, is a rooster. Tonight I also had the suspicion based on tail feathers that Holly, one of the sex links might be as well. I hope it is just me being paranoid but I will attach photos. They are just a few days shy of 8 weeks and these photos are current.
